June 1, 2000

In a letter dated June 1, 2000 Greenway Environmental announced it would close at the end of business June 9, 2000. To read the letter sent by Greenway Environmental to the ODEQ concerning closure check out In the Spotlight for June 1, 2000.

March 16, 2000

Greenway Environmental has let go the bulk of their employees, begun returning hazardous waste to their generators and operations are currently at a standstill.  We will keep you apprised of this situation as more information becomes available.

March 2, 2000

The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) Waste Management Division has issued Greenway Environmental a notice of violation (NOV) for failure to make court-ordered payments of outstanding hazardous waste fees. January 10, 2000

The EPA conducted a surprise inspection of Greenway Environmental.  The inspection has conducted from Monday evening January 10th through Friday, January 14th.  Photos and test samples were taken during the inspection.  Test results and inspection reports will be posted when they become available.

December 11, 1999

It has been reported by the EPA that a barrow of hazardous waste exploded blowing it lid about 10 feet in to the air at Greenway Environmental.  No one was reported hurt.  Detail information concerning this event will be posted as it becomes available.

November 5, 1999

The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) Waste Management Division has issued Greenway Environmental a notice of violation (NOV) sighting six areas of non-compliance including the failure to notify ODEQ of an incident which had the potential to endanger public health and the environment. October 7, 1999

The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) Air Quality Division has issued Greenway Environmental a notice of violation (NOV) sighting that the facility has been operating in non-compliance with Permit No. 98-146-DM, Compliance Order CJ-95-414 and OAC 252: 100-5-2.1.  To read the letter sent by the ODEQ to Greenway Environmental concerning these violations check out In the Spotlight for October 7, 1999.
